Like yellow broom
An invasive crow
I marched right up
To your front door
With my selfish smile
You took me in
Like a baby
I screamed
Behind your back
You never knew you had to win me
My eyes so big
I couldn't let you see me cry
You had no chance to comfort me
I used to be the camas and the
Shore
But I stole your genius
While you broke my hands
And I should have been the one
To break your cigarettes
Before your yellow teeth
Turned black
Before you swallowed all your
Sweet chagrin
The same way you guzzle
Flasks of gin.
I used to be the camas
And the shore
The one waiting in your
Garden never feeling cold
But I was not the
Wrecking ball that could have
made you new
The night sky is still
Your comforter
While the sunlight shakes and
Pummels you.
