song and a poem from the early morning

Wake up to hear hollering

He won't find me here
hair loose
arms pulled back
I am hidden here
breath hung tight
like a wire

When the long road cracks
earth gone dry
water don't move
fingers left cold
and I don't even shiver
spine don't remember how to bend over
backwards
throat don't recall how to
salivate
mind don't care enough to
ruminate
I can't have this patience for a second
longer
however
stuck in my mind is

That frightening man
yes you,
I am starting to see him when I
close my eyes
sweating red face
like a tomato cooking
cheating hands pulling
cards from under the table
that mighty hand
making it's way over
lying to make ends meet
lying so he don't have to
say much

How will I sleep now,
these disturbing images locked in my head
how could I ever possibly shut my eyes now?

and now for a completely unrelated song : Wake up to hear Hollering
